Ron Swisher


Born in Oklahoma, Ron learned bluegrass from good friends and his Uncle Gene, who he played with in a band for a few years.Ron has been playing music for the past 50 years, at first guitar and bass. He played mostly rock music then transitioned to bluegrass in his late teens.

Ron was influenced early on by bands such as the Country Gazette and the Country Gentlemen. Ron played banjo with Old Dominion bluegrass band out of Virginia during 23 years spent in the US Navy Submarine Service.

Ron has been a part of the New England bluegrass scene since about 1990 and has played with numerous bands including The Shady Creek Band (banjo), Charter Oak Bluegrass Band (fiddle), Stillhouse Jammers (banjo), and now New Found Grass (banjo). In addition to playing the 5-string Ron adds his high tenor vocals to the harmony mix as well as some lead vocals. Ron now lives in Wilton, NH now with his wife Kathy.
